Loch Lomond. The area is
renowned for its beauty
& tranquillity & offers
picture postcard views
around every corner. The
Loch is 24 miles long,
five miles wide & at its
deepest point is some
600 feet deep. On the
Loch there are
approximately 38
islands, some of which
are inhabited. Stop in
Luss for a photo stop &
enjoy the view onto the
small islands in the
middle of the Loch.
Continue via Glen Coe, a
peaceful & beautiful
valley, which is
believed to be a scene
of a massacre when the
local Mac Donald’s were
murdered by soldiers of
the Campbell clan in the
17th century.

Bridge Woollen Mill
before you continue to
Loch Ness via Fort

Day 3
Inverness- Speyside Area
Visit Culloden
Battlefield Visitor
Centre this morning. The
battle lines have been
redrawn at the new
Culloden battlefield
experience, with the
site restored to as
close as possible to
that seen by the forces
on that fateful day in
April 1746. With over
1,200 dead in just one
hour Culloden was a
short but bloody battle
– the last to be fought
on British soil. Now the
whole family can
experience & understand
so much more about the
events before, during &
after the battle through
interactive exhibitions
& film. Continue your
journey of Scotland
through the Speyside
area. Acknowledged as
Scotland's national
drink, whisky has been
produced here for longer
than anyone can
remember. Speyside - the
famous whisky producing
region is home to over
half of Scotland’s Malt
Whisky distilleries.
Discover how the
distilleries use barley,
water, yeast & peat to
create the distinctive
taste, texture, colour &
smell of whisky. Make
sure you try some Scotch
whisky when you visit
Scotland - there is a
whisky to suit
everyone's taste & it is
sure to interest &
surprise you! Continue
to picturesque town of
Pitlochry & visit Blair
Athol Distillery, one of
the oldest working
distilleries in
Scotland. After enjoying
a leisurely conducted
tour, you can mull over
the distinctive
character of the
finished product as you
sip your dram of Blair
Athol 12 Year Old.
Overnight: Edinburgh
(Dinner & full bed &
breakfast)
Day 4
Edinburgh
This morning enjoy a
city tour of Edinburgh,
the capital of Scotland,
and a historic &
cultured city. The
setting is wonderfully
striking with the city
perched on a series of
extinct volcanoes &
rocky crags which rise
from the generally flat
landscape of the
Lothian’s, with the
sheltered shoreline of
the Firth of Forth
to the north. Edinburgh
Castle dominates the
city-centre skyline &
from its ramparts you
can look down on
medieval lanes &
elegant, sweeping
terraces that hold over
a thousand years of
history, mystery &
tradition.
Yet you will also see a
modern, dynamic
capital where
international festivals
attract the world's
leading performers,
galleries display
cutting-edge art, &
bars, restaurants &
clubs create a lively,
cosmopolitan atmosphere
with a distinctly
Scottish twist.
'Edinburgh,' said writer
Robert Louis Stevenson,
'is what Paris ought to
be'.
Visit Edinburgh Castle,
the most famous of the
Scottish castles with
its complex building
history. The oldest
part, St Margaret's
Chapel, dates from the
12th century; the Great
Hall was erected by
James IV around 1510;
the Half Moon Battery by
the Regent Morton in the
late 16th century & the
Scottish National War
Memorial after the First
World War. The castle
houses the Honours
(Crown Jewels) of
Scotland, the Stone of
Destiny & the famous
15th century gun Mons
Meg to name but a few.
OPTIONAL -
Dinner & show in
Prestonfield
House or similar;
Supplement of £47.00
p.p.
This evening enjoy a
celebration of
Scottish food, song &
dance at the historic
Prestonfield House,
Edinburgh's only AA 5
Red Star hotel & the
magnificent setting for
the renowned Taste of
Scotland Show & Dinner.
Enjoy a four-course
dinner with wine & a
taste of haggis,
followed by a lavish 2
hour show with an
inspiring cast,
including three Scottish
tenors, a special
appearance by the wee
Highlanders &, in
celebration of
Homecoming Scotland
2009, a tribute to
Robert Burns, his songs
& most famous
recitations, including
address to the Haggis &
Auld Lang Syne.
